Introducing Tegan Olivia Mannan

Two week ago, Miss Tegan Olivia Mannan made her appearance into this world (albeit a little forced).  Steve, the girls, and I couldn't be happier. Of course her arrival also meant our curious little girls' constant questioning of where she came from and how she got there. Reese, upon meeting her sister, asked "did she come from your tummy or your shoulder?"  While I was at the OB, Kylie got a more scientific explanation courtesy of Steve and my Anatomica book. Overall, we are completely in love with Miss T and are very excited to introduce her to everyone.

After postponing our induction to later in the afternoon, we arrived at Baylor of Frisco ready to meet Miss T in a couple of hours.  Instead of taking all afternoon and into the evening, Tegan made a whirlwind appearance after only 2 hours of active labor. When her big sisters met her, Reese immediately asked if she could hold her and take her home :) We thought she would have a hard time adjusting to her attention being diverted to another person, but she surprised us. Kylie was excited as well and was the 3rd person to hold T after Steve and me. Later that night she got her first bath in our room and voiced her disdain for it the entire time!

Less than 48 hours after Tegan's birth, we left the hospital. If you are expecting or planning on having kids, Baylor of Frisco is an awesome facility to have a baby. We have so many great things to say about the nursing staff, the hospital, the food, and the rooms. Of the 3 birthing experiences, I'd have to say this time around was the BEST!!!

When we got home, Reese met us in the kitchen. Now if you know my daughter, you know she could star in "Kids Say the Darndest Things". After she said hi to Tegan with no response, she asked, "Who stole her voice?" When Tegan started crying, she declared she knew what Tegan needed and proceeded to run towards her bassinet with a tupperware full of rice to  "feed her." As I've told many of you, the video monitor would not be used to monitor Tegan, it's for Reese.

Of course, like her sisters, Tegan was also jaundiced, and I played NICU nurse for 48 hours. She dropped more weight than average newborns and is still a little yellow, but she's doing much better now.

The girls have been a huge help with the baby, doing chores, holding Tegan, getting her diapers, etc.  We knew Kylie would be a great big sis, but we didn't expect Reese to be a little mommy.  When our neighbor came to visit  and casually mentioned that she'd love to take Tegan home, Reese screamed at her "NO she's mine!" and proceeded to watch over Tegan like a hawk, not letting anyone walk away with her.

Steve and I have been in a parenting daze the last 2 weeks, still in awe of the life we have.  We are truly blessed to have 3 healthy, beautiful, smart, sweet and sassy girls.
